Membership

The SCM (Steering Committee Meeting) & the ECM (Executive Committee Meeting) of the SAFIR are held at regular intervals, i.e. once in a year.

The Steering Committee is the policy-making body of SAFIR and comprises of all the members inducted from time to time. They include:

The Steering Committee is the policy-making body of SAFIR and comprises of all the members inducted from time to time. They include:

  • Regulatory Commissions from South Asia (one nominee at the level of Member of Commission; may be by rotation)
  • Regulatory Associations from South Asia (two nominees)
  • Co-operative societies, corporate bodies, infrastructure service providers and/or organisations in South Asia ( one nominee at the level of Board member)
  • Consumer advocacy groups, consumer organisations and / or Non Governmental Organisations in South Asia ( one nominee at the level of Governing Body member)
  • Academic Institutions in South Asia ( one nominee at the level of Governing Body member)
Executive Committee

The Executive Committee comprises members of the Steering Committee representing regulatory bodies from South Asia who would meet in conjunction with the SCM/ AGM (Steering Committee Meeting/Annual General Meeting) on an annual basis.

Membership Fees

The annual Membership Fees of the SAFIR members is as given below:

  • Consumer bodies/NGOs - 500 USD
  • Academic /Research institution - 2000 USD
  • Regulatory Bodies - 4000 USD
  • Corporates/Utilities - 5000 USD

In case of any lack of clarity, the Steering Committee shall decide the category under which membership will be granted to an applicant. It will have full right to accept or reject any member in a given category.

The annual membership fee will be used to cover the administrative costs of the host entity. The host entity, being a registered body, will receive the fee and other funds on behalf of SAFIR, and keep them in separate accounts subject to scrutiny by the SAFIR Steering Committee.
